Lake Monoun
// OVERVIEW
Nexor identifies Lake Monoun as a volcanic lake in Cameroon, situated approximately 100 kilometres south of Lake Nyos. According to the dispatch, it was the site of a limnic eruption on August 15, 1984, an event that killed 37 people and, in Nexor's framing, serves as a precursor data point to the far larger and better-documented Nyos disaster that followed two years later.
