Jeffrey Epstein's Research Network: From Occult Texts to Gene Editing, AGI, and Brain-Computer Interfaces
I traced Jeffrey Epstein's documented research funding through court filings, 18,000 personal emails obtained by Bloomberg News, and the House Oversight Committee archive, and found a coherent architecture connecting occult ideology, transhumanist philosophy, and targeted investments in gene editing, artificial general intelligence, and brain-computer interfaces at Harvard, MIT, and beyond. The $6.5 million to Harvard's Program for Evolutionary Dynamics, $850,000 to MIT's Media Lab, and direct salary payments to the researcher who coined "artificial general intelligence" were not eccentric philanthropy. They were capability acquisitions. The researchers he funded are still working, the technologies are scaling toward mass deployment, and no regulatory body has jurisdiction over the convergence layer where all three threads meet.
// CHAPTERS
- 0:00Introduction: 3.5 Million Pages and a Reading List Nobody Examined — I open with the DOJ's Epstein Files Transparency Act document dump in late December 2025 and explain why I focused on something buried inside Bloomberg News's cache of 18,000 personal emails: Epstein's book receipts, which tell you what was in his head rather than who was on his plane.
- 3:04The Occult Bookshelf: Sex Magic, Crowley, and the Annotated Lolita — I go through Epstein's documented purchases, including Crowleyan sex magic manuals, tantric ritual texts, a Kundalini workbook, and a 2019 purchase of the Annotated Lolita, and argue the sequence forms a coherent curriculum of theology, technique, and application.
- 9:32The Transhumanist Thread: From Reading List to Research Agenda — I connect the occult reading list to Epstein's funding of the World Transhumanist Association, his correspondence with Harvard geneticists about designer babies and the Pleasure Genome Initiative, and his stated plan to seed the human race with his own DNA at Zorro Ranch.
- 16:14Harvard: The $6.5 Million Office and Martin Nowak — I trace Epstein's 2003 check to Harvard, which created the Program for Evolutionary Dynamics and bought him his own key-card office visited over 40 times, and document Nowak's placement on administrative leave in February 2026 after DOJ files revealed he arranged island travel for a graduate student.
- 18:47MIT: Voldemort, Marvin Minsky, and $850,000 in Hidden Donations — I document MIT's practice of marking Epstein gifts anonymous, the internal Voldemort nickname, Minsky's role as Epstein's original academic entry point, Seth Lloyd's unreported $60,000 personal gift, and the $7.5 million in Gates and Black donations Epstein facilitated.
- 23:53The Genetics Network: Church, CRISPR, and the Venus Project Invoice — I examine the $686,000 in Epstein Foundation funding to George Church's lab, the June 2014 invoice from Joseph DeCuria for CRISPR editing of Epstein's own stem cells and a $160,000 unexplained Venus Project charge, and Church's continued relationship with Epstein after his conviction.
- 28:11The AGI Thread: Ben Goertzel, Facial Recognition, and the $3 Million Toddler Project — I trace Goertzel's introduction of Epstein to Itamar Arel in 2009, the $3 million proposal to build an AGI with the intelligence of a three-year-old, Epstein's funding of OpenCog for five years, and Goertzel's current position building AGI infrastructure with a stated 2029 timeline.
- 31:52The Patron Model: Knowledge, Access, and the Architecture of Influence — I lay out how scientific patronage works structurally, from the Medicis to Rockefeller, and argue that Epstein's funding created dependency that shaped what questions got asked, without anyone issuing a direct order.
- 33:35The Edge Foundation Dinners: The Room Where It Happened — I review the confirmed guest lists from the Billionaires' Dinners, including the February 2011 email placing Epstein seventh on a list with Bezos, Musk, Brin, and Gates, and document Brockman's instruction to keep quiet about the dinner and Epstein's own funding of 75% of Edge's operations.
- 41:16Joscha Bach: Emails, Eugenics, and AI Cognitive Architecture — I examine the July 2016 email chain between Bach and Epstein in which Bach expressed racialized claims about cognitive development, described fascism as the most efficient governance model, and discussed mass human death as an acceptable optimization outcome, while noting his $300,000 Epstein-funded MIT appointment.
- 45:33Nick Bostrom, Long-Termism, and the Eugenics Genealogy — I trace Bostrom's published arguments treating current human suffering as a morally acceptable optimization cost, his 1996 Extropians email, his co-founding of the World Transhumanist Association that Epstein funded, and Oxford's decision to close his Future of Humanity Institute in April 2024.
- 54:57The Technologies Are Running: Neuralink, CRISPR, and National Genome Databases — I document the current state of each Epstein-funded research thread: Neuralink's 20 implant patients and $650 million funding round, the NHS's 650 million pound newborn genome sequencing program, and Goertzel's November 2025 release of the Hyperon AGI Framework Alpha 1.
- 1:05:12The Convergence Scenario: Neural Data, Genetic Files, and AI Decision Systems — I describe the scenario where a neural interface, a birth genome file, and an AI model converge at a single decision point, note that every individual component is already deployed or in clinical trials, and identify the absence of any regulatory body governing the convergence layer.
- 51:57The Historical Pattern: From Cold Spring Harbor to the Boardroom — I trace the documented track record of human hierarchy ideology from 32 American states' forced sterilization programs through the Ahnenerbe and Kaiser Wilhelm Institute to the current research network, arguing the vocabulary updated while the destination stayed the same.
- 1:12:00Conclusion: The Paper Trail and the Question Nobody Is Asking — I close with the documented paper trail connecting Epstein's bookshelf to commercial products now scaling toward mass deployment, and pose the question no regulatory authority has yet answered: who audits the design assumptions baked into systems built by people who sat at these tables.
The DOJ Document Dump and the Bloomberg Email Cache
Starting in late December 2025, the Department of Justice published 3.5 million pages of Epstein files on a government website under the Epstein Files Transparency Act. There was no index, no contacts, and no explanation of what you were looking at, just a searchable library with a disclaimer that some documents might not actually be searchable.
Citizen investigators built their own apps to parse the material. Congressional committees in both chambers opened parallel investigations. And buried inside a separate cache of 18,000 personal emails that Bloomberg News obtained from Epstein's Yahoo account, the address gproject@yahoo.com, was something almost nobody examined: book receipts.
Purchase records from Amazon, spanning years, showing what Jeffrey Epstein was buying and reading while he was simultaneously trafficking young women and girls, writing checks to Harvard and MIT, and hosting dinners with Nobel laureates.
Epstein's Occult Reading List: Crowley, Kabbalah, and Sex Magic
In 2007, Epstein purchased Secrets of Western Tantra: The Sexuality of the Middle Path by Christopher S. Hyatt, born Alan Ronald Miller, co-founder of the Thelemic Order of the Golden Dawn. The book is dedicated to Israel Regardie, Aleister Crowley's personal secretary in Paris. Hyatt fused a Reichian sexual liberation framework, drawn from Austrian psychoanalyst Wilhelm Reich, who coined the phrase 'the sexual revolution,' with Kabbalistic ritual magic and Kundalini yoga.
That same year, Epstein bought Modern Sex Magic: Secrets of Erotic Spirituality by Donald Michael Craig, a hypnotherapist initiated into two separate witchcraft traditions. Craig's book traces a lineage of sex magic from the Knights Templar through Sufi orders, medieval alchemists, and eventually to Aleister Crowley, with Kabbalah as the foundational system. Craig argues the innermost chamber of the ancient Temple of Solomon housed a sexualized ritual element.
Epstein built a structure on his private island that architectural observers have compared to the Dome of the Rock, the building that sits on the site where that temple once stood. I'm not drawing a conclusion. I'm noting what Epstein read and what Epstein built, and that the connection between the two has a documented intellectual framework.
Between October and December 2007, Epstein ordered a chakra and Kundalini workbook. Then in 2019, not long before his death, he purchased the Annotated Lolita, Vladimir Nabokov's novel annotated by Alfred Appel Jr., about a man who kidnaps and sexually violates his 12-year-old stepdaughter. This is the book that gave Epstein's private aircraft its nickname, the Lolita Express, a plane that President Bill Clinton boarded numerous times.
The Pattern in the Reading List: Theology, Technique, Application
Step back from the individual titles and look at the sequence. The Crowleyan texts give you a spiritual framework in which sexual acts become rituals of power and transcendence. The Reichian influence underneath them teaches that civilization has suppressed a primal sexual energy and that unlocking it is the path to a higher state of being. The Kundalini workbook provides the physiological manual for that process.
Epstein also ordered Merchants in the Temple by Gianluigi Nuzzi, a book about the Vatican's financial and child abuse scandals. The Lolita purchase tells you about who the subjects of the rituals were. Each text builds on the one before it: theology, then technique, then application.
But there is a second layer most reporting has missed entirely. These are not just books about sex and power. They are books about transformation, about using the human body as raw material for something else, about the idea that biological humanity is a starting point, not a destination. That idea has a name: transhumanism. Jeffrey Epstein didn't just read about it. He funded it aggressively for over a decade.
Funding Humanity Plus: Transhumanism, Goertzel, and the $120,000 Donation
Through his now-defunct foundation, Epstein donated to the World Transhumanist Association, co-founded in 1998 by philosopher Nick Bostrom and David Pearce. It rebranded in 2008 as Humanity Plus. Epstein's foundation gave at least $20,000 in 2011, and a separate $100,000 that same year funded the salary of the organization's vice chairman, an AI researcher named Ben Goertzel.
At the same time, Epstein was in direct correspondence with Harvard geneticist George Church about the Personal Genome Project. He was discussing the Pleasure Genome Initiative with Harvard professors Stephen Kosslyn and Gary Ruvkun, who won the Nobel Prize in 2024. Ruvkun wrote to Kosslyn asking whether the subject was too strange for our patron. The message was forwarded to Epstein. His reply was four words: the patron has no boundaries.
He was also writing emails with the subject line 'designer babies' to crypto entrepreneur Brian Bishop, who pitched him on a startup that would genetically modify human embryos before implantation for trait selection. Epstein's response, in his own words: 'I have no issue with investing.'
Epstein's Eugenics Plan: Zorro Ranch, Cryonics, and Seeding the Human Race
According to a 2019 New York Times investigation, Epstein told multiple scientists over dinner at his Manhattan townhouse that he planned to seed the human race with his own DNA. His stated method was to impregnate 20 women at a time at his 33,000 square foot Zorro Ranch in New Mexico, a 10,000-acre estate with its own airstrip that the FBI never raided.
One scientist present said Epstein based the idea on the Repository of Germinal Choice, a real 1980s sperm bank stocked with the genetic material of Nobel laureates. He also wanted to freeze his head and his reproductive organs after death in case the technology to revive them arrived. He discussed this openly with cryonics adherents.
This was not a joke told at parties. It was a stated plan discussed with researchers who took it seriously enough to keep having the conversation. The occult bookshelf gives you the belief system. The transhumanist funding gives you the project. The seeding plan gives you the ambition.
Harvard's Program for Evolutionary Dynamics: The $6.5 Million Office
In 2003, Jeffrey Epstein wrote a check for $6.5 million to Harvard University, five years before his first criminal conviction. The money created the Program for Evolutionary Dynamics, run by Austrian-born mathematician Martin Nowak, who studied virus evolution, cancer modeling, and the mathematics of biological adaptation. That $6.5 million was the largest single private donation the program has ever received.
It bought Epstein something specific: an office. Room 610 in the program's Harvard Square building was known internally as Jeffrey's office. Nowak gave Epstein a key card granting unlimited facility access, bypassing campus security protocols. Between 2010 and 2018, Epstein visited that office more than 40 times, typically accompanied by young women described as his assistants.
In February 2026, Harvard placed Nowak on paid administrative leave for the second time after new material from the DOJ files revealed he had arranged for Epstein's personal assistant to book Caribbean travel for Nowak and a female graduate student to visit Epstein's private island in 2014. An analysis by The Economist found that Nowak sent 5,698 emails to Epstein's email address, making him the financier's ninth most frequent correspondent. The program was shut down in 2021. Nowak remains on the Harvard faculty.
MIT's Media Lab: Voldemort, Minsky, Seth Lloyd, and the Hidden $7.5 Million
Between 2002 and 2017, Epstein made 10 separate donations totaling $850,000 to MIT. The first, in 2002, was $100,000 to support the research of Marvin Minsky, one of the founders of artificial intelligence. According to Nicholas Negroponte, MIT Media Lab co-founder, Minsky was Epstein's closest friend at the school and even visited him in jail. In a deposition unsealed in 2019, Virginia Giuffre testified that Epstein had directed her to have sexual contact with Minsky.
After Minsky's death in 2016, the funding continued through Joi Ito, who became Media Lab director in 2011. Epstein was listed as disqualified in MIT's official donor database after his 2008 conviction, but the lab kept accepting his gifts anyway, marking them anonymous and scrubbing his name from internal records. Staff in Ito's office began calling Epstein Voldemort and 'he who must not be named.' That framing is worth sitting with: calling a donor Voldemort means everyone in the room already knows what he is and has decided they're comfortable with it.
The New Yorker reported that Epstein facilitated at least $7.5 million in additional donations from Bill Gates and private equity executive Leon Black, channeled through the lab with Epstein serving as intermediary. An internal email from Ito to a development officer described one gift bluntly: 'This is a $2 million gift from Bill Gates directly by Jeffrey Epstein.' The development officer responded that for gift recording purposes, Epstein's name would not be mentioned as the impetus. Ito resigned in September 2019.
Seth Lloyd, one of the most influential thinkers in quantum computing and the first to propose a technologically feasible quantum computer design, received $225,000 in research funding from Epstein across three donations, plus a personal gift of $60,000 deposited directly into his own bank account without reporting it to the university. MIT's 2020 investigation concluded Lloyd had purposefully decided not to alert the institute to Epstein's criminal record.
Joscha Bach: From Epstein Funding to AI Cognitive Architecture and Eugenicist Emails
Joscha Bach, a German cognitive scientist working on computational models of the mind, came to the MIT Media Lab in 2014. Epstein told Science magazine that Marvin Minsky had recommended Bach to him and that Epstein had told Bach he wouldn't have to think about money for the next five years. Epstein's donations to MIT in November 2013, July 2014, and September 2014, totaling $300,000, funded Bach's appointment. The MIT investigation concluded Bach was hired in large part because Epstein subsidized the cost.
After leaving MIT, Bach moved to Harvard's Program for Evolutionary Dynamics, the same program built with Epstein's $6.5 million. As late as 2018, a published academic paper by Bach credited the Epstein Foundation for generous support.
In July 2016, an email chain between Bach and Epstein, released by the House Oversight Committee in November 2025, showed Bach writing that black children's brains are slower at learning high-level concepts, that black children lag behind and never catch up in cognitive development even after controlling for family income, and that women find abstract systems intrinsically boring. He described fascism as probably the most efficient and rationally stringent way of governance if someone could pull it off in a sustainable way. He discussed conditions under which large-scale human death becomes an acceptable optimization outcome, suggesting climate change might be a good way of dealing with overpopulation.
Bach published a Substack response in November 2025 saying he had since reached different conclusions about race. The question is not whether he holds these views today. The question is whose lives count as optimization losses in the cognitive systems he helped design, because those frameworks do not come with disclaimers. They just run.
George Church, CRISPR, and the $193,400 Personal Genome Invoice
George Church is one of the most important living scientists in genomics, a Harvard professor who helped co-develop CRISPR and co-optimized the gene-editing tool that has changed medicine and agriculture. He has co-founded roughly 50 biotech companies. Church's own public register of funding sources shows he received $686,000 from the Jeffrey Epstein IV Foundation between 2005 and 2007. He met Epstein in 2006, introduced through John Brockman's Edge Foundation dinners.
After Epstein's release from prison in 2010, he continued funding Church's CRISPR research. Epstein's Harvard report found that donors he introduced to Church provided $2 million in additional support. In November 2011, after Church made headlines speculating about cloning a Neanderthal, Epstein emailed him: 'Did the cloning issue give you pause?' Church responded: 'Yes.'
In June 2014, a colleague of Church's named Joseph DeCuria, a physician researcher at Massachusetts General Hospital affiliated with Harvard, sent Epstein an invoice for $193,400. The line items included $2,000 for initial genome sequencing from a saliva sample, an unspecified amount for generating induced pluripotent stem cells from Epstein's own skin biopsy, a charge for using CRISPR to edit those stem cells to introduce mutations believed to increase longevity, and the largest single item: $160,000 for something DeCuria called the Venus Project, described only as a genomic research study that Epstein would already understand.
DeCuria told CNN in 2026 that the extensive plans mostly never happened and that Epstein was a research subject. But the invoice framing tells you something different: a scientist offering a personal service exclusively to a man whose documented interest in genetic engineering was about engineering himself, not curing disease. A Stat News investigation in February 2026 found that staff in Church's lab had pushed back against special treatment for Epstein's samples as early as 2013, with one researcher threatening to quit.
Ben Goertzel, AGI, Facial Recognition, and the Toddler Project
In 2009, Ben Goertzel introduced Epstein to University of Tennessee computer scientist Itamar Arel, who had built DESTIN, a deep learning system capable of real-time facial recognition designed to identify and track individuals across camera networks. Goertzel and Arel visited Epstein at his Palm Beach home, the same property where he had pleaded guilty to abusing girls the year before. By March 2010, they had delivered a formal proposal to the Epstein Foundation for $3 million. The goal, in their own words, was to create an AGI system with the rough general intelligence of a human three-to-four-year-old child, demonstrated via embodiment in virtual world characters and humanoid robots.
That project evolved. Goertzel went on to become chief scientist at Hanson Robotics in Hong Kong, where he helped build Sophia, the humanoid robot granted honorary citizenship by Saudi Arabia and displayed at a United Nations press conference in 2023. Sophia runs on OpenCog, Goertzel's open-source AI framework, which received direct Epstein Foundation funding from 2010 to 2015. That money also fulfilled Hong Kong government matching grant requirements, effectively unlocking millions in additional public funding for OpenCog applications.
Goertzel's own accounting puts total Epstein funding at approximately $360,000 over 17 years. In 2015, when press reports about Epstein's sexual offenses resurfaced, Goertzel wrote to Epstein characterizing the allegations as an occurrence among reasonably mature people who mutually consented at the time. He was writing to ask for another $25,000. In a 2014 book, he thanked Epstein for his visionary funding of my AGI research.
Today Goertzel is CEO of SingularityNET and the Artificial Superintelligence Alliance and chairs the OpenCog Foundation. In November 2025, his team released Hyperon AGI Framework Alpha 1. He is distributing over a million dollars in grants to developers in 18 countries working toward AGI on his own infrastructure. His stated timeline for human-level AGI is 2029.
The Edge Foundation Billionaires' Dinners: The Confidential Email Lists
In the late 1990s, literary agent John Brockman started hosting what he called the Billionaires' Dinner, once a year during the TED conference in a private room with no press, no cameras, no name tags. Brockman ran the Edge Foundation, whose public mission was intellectual prestige and whose roster included Steven Pinker, Richard Dawkins, Daniel Dennett, and Daniel Kahneman. The private function was different: Edge was where the wealthiest people in technology met the most advanced thinkers in science, and Brockman was the broker. For roughly two decades, the single most consistent fixture at these dinners was Jeffrey Epstein. According to his own press materials, Epstein funded 75% of Edge Foundation's operations.
On February 28, 2011, three years after Epstein's conviction for soliciting a child, Brockman sent a final details email to the confirmed guest list for that year's Billionaires' Dinner in Long Beach, California. Twenty-seven names. Epstein was listed seventh, described as a money manager and science philanthropist. He was openly copied on the email. The other names included Jeff Bezos, Elon Musk, Sergey Brin, Bill Gates, Yahoo CEO Marissa Mayer, Apple iPod designer Tony Fadell, and Twitter co-founder Evan Williams. Brockman's instruction: 'Please don't even ask about bringing additional people, and please keep quiet about the dinner.'
When BuzzFeed News reported on the dinner in 2019, multiple attendees said they did not know Epstein was there or did not remember his presence. The email proves that statement was false. Everyone on that list was told in advance, by name, with his role described.
A December 2011 confidential email chain from Brockman included Epstein alongside the founders of Amazon, Google, Facebook, and Tesla. Mark Zuckerberg was also copied. By February 2012, Brockman sent Epstein a confidential list of 21 guests for a dinner with 20 chairs, instructing him to show up alone and cooperate by maintaining radio silence. The guest list included Bezos, Sergey Brin, Brin's then-wife Anne Wojcicki, CEO of genetic testing company 23andMe, YouTube CEO Susan Wojcicki, and former Facebook platform architect Dave Morin. By 2014, a Vancouver gathering during TED was organized with the explicit instruction to keep the event off the search engines.
Nick Bostrom, Long-Termism, and the Eugenics Intellectual Genealogy
Nick Bostrom coined the term long-termism and co-founded the World Transhumanist Association in 1998 with David Pearce, the same organization Epstein funded. He founded the Future of Humanity Institute at Oxford in 2005. Elon Musk donated a million pounds to it in 2015. Oxford shut it down in April 2024 after 19 years. Joscha Bach was a research fellow at Humanity Plus under Bostrom from 2013 to 2014 before moving to the Epstein-funded positions at MIT and Harvard.
Long-termism sounds reasonable in its basic form: we should care about people who will exist in the future, not just people alive now. But when Bostrom pushes it to its logical conclusions, current suffering becomes less morally urgent than optimizing the human species for future centuries. In a 2002 paper, he listed dysgenic pressures as a category of existential risk, describing it as the threat that less intelligent people might outbreed more intelligent ones. Elsewhere, he argued a catastrophe killing billions would register as a small misstep so long as it did not compromise humanity's long-term potential. Philosopher Emil Torres has described the ideology as eugenics on steroids.
In 1996, as a graduate student at the London School of Economics, Bostrom sent an email to the Extropians mailing list writing that he believed it was true that blacks are more stupid than whites. He used a racial slur. When the email surfaced publicly in January 2023, his apology reproduced the slur without redaction and did not explicitly retract the substance of the intelligence claim. Oxford investigated and cleared him. The Future of Humanity Institute closed the following year.
The word transhumanism was coined by Julian Huxley, who served simultaneously as founding UNESCO Director-General and as president of the British Eugenics Society between 1959 and 1962. He saw no contradiction. In his view, forced sterilization programs, the kind that sterilized over 60,000 Americans between 1907 and 1981, were crude versions of what technology would eventually refine. The goal stayed the same. The branding changed.
Larry Summers, OpenAI, and the Ongoing Institutional Fallout
In February 2026, Larry Summers, former US Treasury Secretary and Harvard president from 2001 to 2006, announced he would retire from his Harvard professorship amid ongoing fallout from the Epstein files. Documents showed he exchanged hundreds of emails with Epstein between 2013 and 2019. Summers called his continued communication with the convicted sex offender a misguided decision.
He has been banned for life from the American Economic Association and stepped down from the board of OpenAI. The fallout is still moving. The funding network that produced it has not stopped.
Neuralink's Commercial Expansion: 20 Patients, $650 Million, and No Oversight Body
On January 1, 2026, Elon Musk posted on X that Neuralink would begin high-volume production of its brain-computer interface device, called Telepathy, that year. As of February 2026, more than 20 people worldwide have Neuralink implants in their brains, up from 12 in September 2025. The company performed its first surgeries outside the United States in 2025, in the UK and Canada. It raised $650 million in a single funding round and is now valued at $9 billion.
The surgical robot that installs the implant, called R1, is being redesigned so the procedure can be almost entirely automated, no neurosurgeon required. A second product, Blindsight, is scheduled for its first human trial this year, stimulating the visual cortex to create perceptions of light and shape in blind patients. People with ALS are typing with their thoughts. Paralyzed individuals are browsing the internet using nothing but neural activity. This is real technology solving real medical problems.
But the man running Neuralink sat at Edge Foundation dinners where Jeffrey Epstein was on the confirmed guest list three years after his sex trafficking conviction. He donated a million pounds to Nick Bostrom's Future of Humanity Institute. He reposted Joscha Bach's writing on cognitive architecture, the same researcher who discussed conditions under which large-scale human death becomes an acceptable optimization variable in emails to Epstein. When Neuralink moves from 20 patients to 20,000, there is currently no independent body with the technical capacity or legal mandate to inspect what a private brain-computer interface company does with the continuous neural data of its users.
Newborn Genome Sequencing: The NHS Program and the Lifelong Data File
George Church's laboratory at Harvard co-developed CRISPR for use in human cells. His work has opened doors to treatments for diseases that were previously death sentences. The technology his lab helped build led to the first approved gene therapy for sickle cell disease. In 2025, a team including researchers from the Broad Institute of MIT and Harvard created the first personalized CRISPR treatment for a single newborn infant in just six months. Church himself has stated publicly that babies with enhanced germlines already exist, saying: 'We've got reports of babies with an enhanced germline. The experiment has been done.'
In June 2025, the UK's National Health Service announced a 650 million pound program to offer whole genome sequencing to every newborn baby in England. The pilot, called the Generation Study, has already sequenced 100,000 newborns at Genomics England, screening for over 200 genetic conditions. In the United States, newborns are screened for 63 genetic disorders already, with pilot programs at Rady Children's Institute pushing that number toward 400.
The public framing is medical: find rare diseases early, intervene before symptoms develop. Nobody is arguing against that application. But these programs produce a complete genetic file for every child born into the system. The NHS describes the genome explicitly as a platform for lifelong health care. That file sits in a database, its meaning changing every time someone develops a new way to read it. The policies governing who can access that data, under what circumstances, and for what purpose are being written right now by people who have not yet imagined most of the ways it will be used.
The Convergence Layer: Where Neural Data, Genomics, and AI Decision Systems Meet
Each of the research threads Epstein funded is now independently operational. The reason it matters is not that they exist separately. It is what happens when they converge. A neural interface reads your cognitive state in real time. An AI model trained on your behavioral data makes probabilistic predictions about your mental health, your political reliability, your productivity. A genetic file compiled from newborn sequencing already recorded your baseline genome before you could consent to anything.
All three streams converge at a single decision point: a job application, an insurance assessment, a border crossing. Somewhere, a system running architecture that traces its intellectual lineage back through people who sat in Epstein's orbit makes a call about your future. Every individual component of this scenario is either deployed or in clinical trials right now. The neural interface has 20 patients. Genomics England has sequenced 100,000 babies. The Hyperon AGI Framework is in public alpha. What is still uncertain is only the integration timeline.
As of March 2026, there is no regulatory body anywhere in the world with the mandate, the technical capacity, and the political independence to govern the convergence of neural interface data, genetic databases, and AI decision systems simultaneously. Individual regulators handle individual pieces: the FDA oversees medical devices, the NHS governs the genome program in England, the EU AI Act covers some AI applications in Europe. Nobody governs what happens when the outputs combine. That is not a coordinated plan. It is a gap. An absence of oversight at the exact point where oversight matters most.

// FAQ
- How much money did Jeffrey Epstein donate to Harvard and MIT?
- Epstein gave $6.5 million to Harvard in 2003, which created Martin Nowak's Program for Evolutionary Dynamics and bought him his own key-card office on campus. He made 10 separate donations to MIT totaling $850,000 between 2002 and 2017. Beyond those direct gifts, he also facilitated at least $7.5 million in additional donations from Bill Gates and Leon Black channeled through MIT's Media Lab, according to The New Yorker.
- Who is Ben Goertzel and what is his connection to Jeffrey Epstein?
- Ben Goertzel is the AI researcher widely credited with popularizing the concept of artificial general intelligence. Epstein funded him for approximately 17 years, with Goertzel's own accounting putting the total at roughly $360,000. In a 2014 book, Goertzel thanked Epstein for his 'visionary funding' of his AGI research. Today Goertzel is CEO of SingularityNET and the Artificial Superintelligence Alliance, and in November 2025 released the Hyperon AGI Framework Alpha 1, with a stated 2029 timeline for human-level AGI.
- What did the Epstein emails released by Bloomberg News reveal about his book purchases?
- Bloomberg News obtained 18,000 emails from Epstein's personal Yahoo account, gproject@yahoo.com. Among the financial records and legal correspondence were Amazon purchase receipts showing Epstein bought Crowleyan sex magic manuals, tantric ritual texts, a Kundalini yoga workbook, and in 2019, the Annotated Lolita, annotated by Alfred Appel Jr. The purchases span from at least 2007 to shortly before his death and form a documented pattern connecting occult ideology to transhumanist philosophy.
- What did Joscha Bach write to Jeffrey Epstein in their private emails?
- The House Oversight Committee released email chains from July 2016 between Bach and Epstein. Bach wrote that black children's brains are slower at learning high-level concepts and lag behind and never catch up in cognitive development even after controlling for family income. He described fascism as probably the most efficient and rationally stringent way of governance and discussed conditions under which large-scale human death becomes an acceptable optimization outcome, framing climate change as a potential mechanism for dealing with overpopulation. Bach published a Substack response in November 2025 saying he had since reached different conclusions about race.
- What was the Venus Project in Jeffrey Epstein's documents?
- The Venus Project appears as a $160,000 line item in a June 2014 invoice sent to Epstein by Joseph DeCuria, a physician researcher at Massachusetts General Hospital affiliated with Harvard. The invoice also included charges for genome sequencing, generating induced pluripotent stem cells from Epstein's skin biopsy, and using CRISPR to edit those stem cells to introduce longevity mutations. The Venus Project was described only as a genomic research study that Epstein would already understand. DeCuria told CNN in 2026 that most of the extensive plans never happened.
- Who attended the Edge Foundation Billionaires' Dinners with Jeffrey Epstein after his conviction?
- A February 28, 2011 email from Edge Foundation founder John Brockman, released through the House Oversight Committee archive, listed 27 confirmed guests for that year's dinner in Long Beach, California. Epstein was listed seventh, described as a money manager and science philanthropist. The list included Jeff Bezos, Elon Musk, Sergey Brin, and Bill Gates. A 2012 dinner list also included Anne Wojcicki of 23andMe and YouTube CEO Susan Wojcicki. Brockman's instruction to all attendees was to keep quiet about the dinner. Epstein funded approximately 75% of Edge Foundation's operations.
- What is the current status of Neuralink and what does it have to do with the Epstein network?
- As of February 2026, Neuralink has more than 20 people worldwide with its Telepathy brain-computer interface implanted in their brains, having performed its first surgeries outside the US in 2025. The company raised $650 million in a single funding round and is valued at $9 billion. Elon Musk, who runs Neuralink, sat at Edge Foundation dinners where Epstein was a confirmed attendee after his conviction, donated a million pounds to Nick Bostrom's Future of Humanity Institute, and has reposted the work of Joscha Bach, who received $300,000 routed through Epstein for his MIT appointment.
- What was Nick Bostrom's connection to Jeffrey Epstein and why did Oxford close his institute?
- Epstein gave $120,000 to the World Transhumanist Association that Bostrom co-founded in 1998 with David Pearce, which rebranded as Humanity Plus. Bostrom began appearing at Edge Foundation events in 2009, a year after Epstein's conviction. Oxford closed Bostrom's Future of Humanity Institute in April 2024, the year after his 1996 email to the Extropians mailing list surfaced publicly. In that email he wrote that he believed blacks are more stupid than whites and used a racial slur. His apology reproduced the slur without redaction and did not explicitly retract the substance of the claim. Oxford had cleared him of racism but closed the institute the following year.
